ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Instead of searching for beautiful scenes to paint, I keep my eyes open for that special moment that will turn an otherwise ordinary landscape into something extraordinary.  Many of the scenes I paint are within miles of my own backyard, although I am also constantly on the lookout for those special intersections of place and time when venturing farther afield.  I am particularly drawn to scenes in which the humble vernacular architecture of a region contributes to the sense of place.

BIOGRAPHY

Linda came to painting later in life, after careers as a corporate attorney and then as an interior designer. She grew up on a cattle ranch in Oregon, then spent most of her adult life living and working in Boston.  Since retirement, she and her husband spend summers in rural Vermont and winters in Miami.

Linda holds a BS from U. of Minnesota, a JD from Columbia Law School, and a Certificate of Decorative Arts from New England School of Art and Design.  She had a one-person exhibition in 2015 at Tenney Memorial Library in Newbury, Vermont, and her paintings have been included in group exhibitions in Vermont and Florida.
