Andrea Stoehr
Andrea McSweeney Stoehr is a Pastel artist who lives in Danby among the Green Mountains of Vermont. From her house she sees the expansive views of the Taconic and Green Mountains, and the ever-changing and spectacular skies. She daily witnesses billowing clouds, tubes of light, washes of pinks, purples and blues, and dark storm clouds.
Pastels are a wonderful medium, it is like finger painting, and they are good for painting skies.
Growing up in Newton Massachusetts, her mother was an artist, and she shared an appreciation for art, nature, light, clouds, and scenic views. Visiting the Museum of Fine arts Boston, she was influenced by the works of Winslow Homer, J.M.W. Turner, Claude Monet, and Georgia O’Keefe.
Andrea worked in the Toy industry for many years, both in house at Kenner Products, Kenner/Hasbro, and as a freelance designer.
In Vermont, Andrea worked in several aspects of fabric arts design. For many years, she collaborated with a clothing designer and is currently a support to several interior designers.
Andrea is a proud mother of a daughter, and she is married to a sculptor whose favorite medium is wood.
