Nature is my guide. I like to improve on nature using color, value and composition to evoke an emotional response in the onlooker. My current medium is pastel, even though I do work in aqua oil, acrylic and watercolor. For pastel, I use a variety of colors as an underpainting such as acrylics, ink, textured colored paper or dark pastels. Also used is a toned pastel board.
My goal is to create beauty someone will love, capturing spontaneous light that occurs in nature, then is gone in an instant. Something that strikes a chord, something that makes one linger a little longer at the scene. The process is exciting. For 40 years I worked in the Human Services field but yearned to pursue expression on the 2 dimensional surface. My hope is that you enjoy my paintings. Most paintings are original. Only some are made into greeting cards which are sold at Healthy Living on Dorset St., So. Burlington and Artist’s Mediums Art Shop in Cambridge, Vt.
I’ve taken pastel lessons from Stephanie Birdsall, J. Lunn and Sean Dye. Other workshops I have taken are with Tom Lynch, Jon Young, Karen Vernon, Ken Muenzenmayer, Kathleen Bergeron, Aline Ordman, Robert Burridge and Linda Kemp.
