The 5 day McKinley plein air workshop was held in August in Central VT and attended by 17 participants. We painted in many venues, made lifelong friendships, and even started a FB blog for attendees.

The Vermont Pastel Society hosted a three day workshop in North Bennington featuring artist Jacob Aguiar on September 21, 22 and 23rd. The workshop was called “Color Study to Completed Painting: Landscape Pastel Painting”. Jacob guided attendees through his process of creating pastel landscape paintings in the studio and in plein air. He focused on the foundations of successful representational art, including composition, value color, and drawing; and included specific exercises such as creating notans, small color studies and underpainting techniques.
Jacob Aguiar is a nationally recognized pastel artist living with his wife and dog in Scarborough, Maine,where he paints the nearby marshes and rocky coast. Jacob views painting as a way to offer respite from our crazy world, both for him and the viewers of his paintings. He has won several international awards including the Award of Excellence (2nd place overall) in the 2018 Pastel 100, 3rd place overall in the 2017 Annual Plein Air Salon, and 1st place in the 2017
UART Pastel Paper Online Exhibition, and has had feature articles in a number of publications, including Southwest Art, Plein Air Magazine, American Art Collector, and the Pastel Journal. He currently splits his time as an integrative naturopathic physician and professional artist. A traveler at heart, he enjoys visiting new areas and teaching workshops throughout the country and internationally.
