I feel fortunate to be a lifelong Vermonter. Appreciating the beauty around me, I began pastel painting in 1995. I immediately felt inspired by the vibrant colors of the pastel palette. To me, these seemed a perfect match to the vibrant colors, shapes and textures of Vermont’s landscapes.
After 30 years of painting on my own, I am now able to devote more time to my passion. As a recently retired teacher, I spend more time learning more about the pastel painting craft. The varieties of materials are new to me. These include sanded papers, using liquid mediums and handmade pastels. The newer materials allow for new processes to help capture the natural beauty that surrounds us in this beautiful area.
As a new member of several art groups, I have a new found joy in working and learning from my fellow artists. I am able to spend more time to paint en plein air, studio painting, participating in shows and galleries in Vermont and New England.
