VPS: SW Hub is pleased to host the 2024 Members’ Exhibition (ME) from June through mid-September.
Here is the known information:
Location: Southern Vermont Arts Center, Manchester, VT
Dates:June 8 to September 22.
Title:Pastel Panorama: Journeys with a Medium
This show title is presented to encourage members to try something new, to move beyond their comfort zones, to “take a journey.” “Panorama” covers the wide range of styles that will be represented.
Members may consider experimenting with mixed media, different mark-making or underpainting techniques, a change of subject matter, working larger than normal or more abstract. This is your chance to play and not be restrained by the 80% soft pastel rule of the Juried Show. Have fun!

Reception:Saturday, June 8, 2-4 PM. This is a joint opening reception with the VT Glass Guild.
Pick Up:Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24, 10-4.

Submission Guidelines:
To participate in the ME, you must complete a Google Form, HERE, which allows you to submit up to 3 pieces of art for the exhibition. You must submit your 3 pieces in priority-of-hanging order. If we do not have room for all 3, we will start with your first entry, then your second, etc.
You will have until April 15, 2024, to submit your art. Once received, we will calculate the space available to us at the gallery. We will notify you by May 1 how many paintings we can accept on drop-off day.
Eligibility:All VPS members may enter up to three pieces.
1.By submitting your work, you are agreeing to the terms established by the Southern Vermont Art Center.All work must be for sale, unless the artist receives written permission from SVAC.
2.Work must be original, not painted in a workshop or class.
3.Work may be soft or oil pastel. Because of the title of this show 50% pastel is permissible.
4.Work must be completed within the last three years.
5.Work must not have been exhibited in any previous VPS, JS or ME.
6.Work must be framed, labeled, and ready to hang from wire.
7.Work must be the same as the title/dimensions entered in the submission form (ME) or it will not be hung in the exhibition.
8.Work must remain in the venue until the end of the ME, only to be removed earlier at the discretion of the artist and venue, to be given to a buyer who purchased the work at the venue. An artist removing a painting from the show without following protocol may be prohibited from exhibiting in another VPS, JS or ME for a specified period of time.
9.Artists will submit a brief written statement to describe what new direction this work represents.
Commission:The gallery collects a 40% commission from all sold works.
Announcements and Public Relations: Southern Vermont Art Center will create a press release to be distributed to local media outlets. Please share information about the ME on your social media. Hard-copy postcard invitations can be created at the exhibitors’ request and expense.
Artist Participation:We encourage artists’ participation by attending the ME opening reception.
Liability:By submitting titles and framed sizes for hanging in this show, artists are agreeing to the terms established by the Southern Vermont Art Center for exhibitions and understand that the Vermont Pastel Society has no insurance for liability available for artwork in transition to and from the venue and while hanging in the venue. All risk for damage to or loss of artwork at the ME, as well as during transportation to or from the venue, is the responsibility of the artist.
