“Born on Long Island Matthew Beck (1957- ) was introduced to Vermont at a young age with annual ski trips to Mount Snow. Using his bar mitzvah gelt he purchased a small lot on the side of a mountain in Wardsboro and built the house he designed in high school. Matthew graduated from UVM with an engineering degree and subsequently ran a small consulting firm in Jamaica, VT. With an increase in free time, as this business matured, Matthew invested in art making with various media starting with ceramics. To better decorate his functional ware, Matthew began taking life drawing classes at the River Gallery. Over the next decade, he continued life drawing and experimented with still life and landscapes painting using oils, water color and pastels. Matthew’s current media of focus are ceramics and pastels. Now living in Winhall and recently retired Matthew has more time for art. I can be contacted at 10 Glendon Hills Road Bondville, VT 05340, or 802-779-1821, or mbeck@beckengineeringpc.com”
